The first is a very short overview on what Dropbox is and how it can be super useful for consolidating files to be accessed by a person from all of their computers and mobile devices. It's a great introduction if you've never used Dropbox before!
The second video is a longer video (approx. 17 minutes) but if you can sit through the introduction and the presenters spruiking their sponsor it will let you in on some handy ways to use and manage your Dropbox account.
What's is covered in this video -
- how to share and unshare folders
- how to share and edit a document between people
- how to recover deleted files or folders by going back to previous editions
- how to send a specific file to a person without them needing to be a Dropbox member
- using a mobile and the limitations of doing so (also android and iphone's different levels of compatibility are discussed)
Hope these are helpful if you've never used Dropbox or (like me) need a refresher!
Hi Ellen, those videos were really useful. I hadn't explored Dropbox to that depth yet, so they were really good tips. The 1Password thing they mentioned was also a really good tip - hadn't hear of that - but am a bit nervous about having my passwords stored online. But then again it has always been a huge problem for me to manage them.
ReplyDeleteI really like that first Dropbox video. There's something about the guy's nice Canadian accent, coupled with the fact that he's talking about web/I.T programs using little cut out bits of paper. It's quaint, or maybe anachronistic. I dunno, I just like it.
ReplyDeleteOn second thoughts, maybe the narrator is from Chicago. Anyone, anyone?
